Complete Badminton Training by Zhao Jianhua & Xiao Jie

Zhao Jianhua & Xiao Jie Badminton Training - Episode 2 (Mandarin with Chinese & English Subtitles)
Hosted by Former Badminton World Champion Zhao Jianhua & Badminton Coach Xiao Jie

Backcourt Badminton Footwork

Guest Wang Feng's Weakness:
Coach Zhao points out that when the shuttle is hit to the rear court (Position A), Feng's shots become uncomfortable and non-threatening.

Coach Zhao Jianhua's Solution:
Coach Zhao suggests two sets of footwork to improve Feng's speed:
- Take a side step toward the rear corner and then jump to intercept the shuttle at a high contact point.
- As an alternative to jumping, replace the jump with a shuttle step.

Backcourt Backhand Badminton Technique

Guest Wang Feng's Weakness:
Feng feels that he is not able to generate power on a backhand.

Coach Zhao Jianhua's Solution:
Coach Zhao agrees that backhand shots are generally difficult and should be avoided if possible. He instructs Feng on how to swing the racket so that generated power is concentrated and fully transfered to the shuttle.

Points made were good. I understand you should try and avoid it. However we still need to use it. I feel if you can do another video with slow motion, more step by step guide for absolute beginners to guide them through it would be more good be grateful if you have a video link on basics would be more beneficial.

I was just a school/college player. But I played my best when about 38 yr old by motivating myself to be more fit and strong. Two exercises particularly helped me: Dr Morehouse's(Total Fitness)- helped me lower my resting pulse to below 48 and improved my stamina. Other was 'Kiputh's for swimmers-one arm pushups which helped me develop a powerful smash and stronger forehand.Any advice/input is welcome.Thanks.

It is a treasure trove. Long live coaches Zhao and Xiao. I will remember you and your instructions, as long as I do not forget badminton.
